Welcome 2013!

Posted on 1:20 PM by svdfbd
Had some trouble logging into blogger last month but here's to a beautiful new year! We had a nice little surprise in November and I wanted to share our Christmas card with all of you.

Happy New Year!!

I'm already dreaming of yarn and patterns! :) Baby is due July 10th.

Website might be down for a few days at the end of January. If all goes as planned everything should be easier to navigate and to contact me about pattern issues and general questions! I'm also halfway in the middle of getting my ideas together for the next set of cloths, hoping for a Feb release! I'll keep everyone posted!

Hi There!

Posted on 11:47 AM by svdfbd
Just wanted to update everyone and let you all know that we're all doing good and that the kids are getting so big! We were hit with hurricane Sandy here on the east coast pretty bad two weeks ago. So many families are still without power and need to completely rebuild in our area. Tragically a school friend of mine lost his life when a tree fell onto his home during the storm. I ask all of you to please keep him and his family in your prayers.

**For the entire month of November I have been and will continue to donate half of all pattern sales to various Sandy relief charities in my area including the red cross and the aspca to help families and their pets during this difficult time.**

Thankfully our house didn't suffer too much damage and we only lost power for a little bit. Our internet/cable was knocked out and they don't know when it will be restored. Such a small thing in comparison to losing ones life. The gas shortage is still an interesting situation but with school being closed for two weeks we haven't needed to go anywhere that we couldn't walk to.
Still hoping we'll enjoy some normalcy for the holidays. Halloween was basically cancelled in NY but we still made the most of it. Lots of trees were still down but I made it back to my old neighborhood with the kids and it was a welcome surprise to see trick-or-treaters. This year we had a Luigi and Hello Kitty. Here are the silly faces that I face painted. They really know how to make Mom smile.

Since I haven't updated in what feels like forever... In some happy news I married my true love this year. No words could express having someone by your side that makes you a better person and all your dreams come true. Just for the record he's also been pushing me to write and knit more.

A lot of knitters have wrote me and asked if I'm going to start designing again and the answer is a definite yes.  Knitting will never leave my heart or my hands for too long. I'm still working on projects all the time from scarves to socks to small toys for the kids.

So here's to keeping this blog updated and my fingers busy! Now my long awaited question to all of you who still follow this blog and have enjoyed working through my patterns is:
"What cloths would you love to work on next?"
(I'd love to hear your answers!)

Time to Start Again...?

Posted on 10:55 AM by svdfbd

OK, I need some inspiration... I need to knit!

A lot has happened since my last post so I'll write a small update. We sold the house that I built the apartment in over the summer so I'm temporarily living in a rental home until I can find another apartment that suits the kids and I perfectly. Although it broke my heart to let the house I grew up in go, it's a fresh start and we're all embracing it. Victor is already in Kindergarden and Ella will be starting Preschool on the 11th this month. I'm working everyday now and time is scarce. I'm also hoping to open up a business after the new year so my mind is cluttered with to-do's and research.

With all that said I really want nothing more then to sit down and start knitting again, maybe even some new pattern writing. Ellie had asked for a sweater last month and promising her that I would, I haven't even browsed patterns yet.

If anyone has recently knitted something for a little girl or seen a pattern lately that you think she might love please leave a comment with a link! She's very vintage and only wears dresses, cardigans, flats and headbands. Getting this girl in jeans with Winter around the corner is a battle in itself. Thank you for your help, I can't wait to get something on my needles. Which is more like, I can't wait to unpack all the boxes that say "YARN"!

Our New Addition..

Posted on 11:14 PM by svdfbd
Meet Lily! She's a Frenchie and was adopted by us early this month from a wonderful breeder, Big Creek Kennels. Lily has made our house a lot of fun. The kids are crazy over her and I am very lucky to have such a good pup. We're going through the long process of housebreaking at the moment. With the mountains of snow outside I'm longing for the days when I can take her outside to play and train. She's about 12 weeks now.

I'm Going to Try a Lil Harder This Year...

Posted on 2:00 PM by svdfbd
I wanted to say thank you to every single knitter who has ever bought a pattern from KrisKnits. I can't express how grateful I am and how much it helps us everyday. Sometimes life is just too much to handle and I'm trying to work on my time management between the kids, work and taking care of the house.

I've taken on so much by myself this past year. It's getting easier as the days go on and it truly breaks my heart that I cant seem to find the time for this blog or to keep writing patterns.. I wish I could finish every pattern or idea that I've started or sketched out lately but I'm missing yarn and needles to boot. I think an inventory is well overdue this week.

I'm going to try something a little different this year. Yes, January might be over already but I think if I can motivate myself to post at least one picture a day of my life from now on, then it will push me to start designing again. Being more active on this site and communicating with other knitters helps me as well. I'm so grateful for this community and for all of my friends who've stuck by my side at the hardest times. I'm not giving up on this site or the artist in my heart.

October Mystery Cloth is Here!

Posted on 10:04 PM by svdfbd
Happy Autumn everyone! I've been so busy this month between work and birthday parties it was too difficult to get everything on the computer. I did manage to finish an October KAL and I've decided to offer it as a Mystery Cloth Pattern. I hope everyone enjoys this knit, it was a lot of fun to design and write up. I used a dark purple yarn for my cloth but I would also suggest hues in green, blue, brown, red and orange.

October Mystery Cloth 2010:

Supplies:
  • 1 Ball of Lily's Sugar'n Cream Solid
  • US #3/3.25mm needles*

I'm Back.. For Good.

Posted on 9:45 PM by svdfbd
It's been a very, very difficult summer. Due to family situations I had to start working full time and then some just to make ends meet. This took a severe toll on so many different aspects of my life. Thinking of them now can almost make me break down and cry. I'm still working through these difficult times everyday with an open heart and a smile . "When life gives you lemons..."

It's been so hard to neglect this part of my life for all of these months. It's honestly made me very depressed. I don't know where to even begin to apologize to every single one of you who follow this blog and wondered where I might be, if I was alright or not. Or to every knitter who might've had a problem with a pattern and sent an email that I just wasn't able to get to. Sometimes life becomes too much to handle and that's exactly what happened. I had no choice but to let some things suffer. There is more to the story but I beg you to forgive us and hope that you will continue to read and follow as I have so much to share with you.

Just a side note... and an important one. I am determined to continue the KAL and offer all of the "back-issue" cloths up in full within the next month. I know a lot of knitters wanted to have a complete set of 12 months by the end of the year. I'm making sure that this will be possible.
There will be an October KAL on the 1st of the month.

I need to start this again, I didn't realize how much joy it brought into my life an other's until it was gone. I've surely missed you..
